Montgomery County Agricultural and Open Space Reserve - Bus Tour and Lunch

Time: 10-30 am - 3:30 pm

Join WDC for a tour of the magnificent Agricultural Reserve. This national model was visionary in its plan to cap sprawl, preserve opportunities for recreation, protect open space and farming in the vicinity of the greater Washington DC area. You'll travel the rolling countryside on rustic roads with stops at working farms, historic treasures and, did we mention an opportunity to pat furry farm animals at an animal sanctuary? Lunch provided at the historic Rocklands Farm and Winery. Board the bus at  10:30 am sharp, at the Nancy Dacek Community Center.

Join us for an exciting panel discussion with three women who lead their county's States Attorney's Office:  Aisha Braveboy from Prince George’s, Anne Colt Leitess from Anne Arundel and Marilyn Mosby from Baltimore.  The panel will be moderated by Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy.

Come with your questions about domestic violence and human trafficking, the unique needs of women in the criminal justice system and whether they are being met, the role of State’s Attorneys in context of the numerous initiatives for criminal justice reforms, and – for the three panelists – whether and how being a woman in this male-dominated field affects the way they do this work.

Join us as we welcome Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08), who will offer insights on the new Democratic-controlled House of Representatives. Now in his second term, Congressman Raskin serves on the House Judiciary Committee, the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, and the House Administration Committee. As the newly elected Caucus Leadership Representative, he is a member of the House Leadership team. He will represent the five most recently elected classes of the Caucus (142 members) at the leadership table. Always informing and energizing, Congressman Raskin will share his new perspective as someone “in the room where it happens!”
